What A Year!

Wow… A lot can happen in a year! A lot HAS happened in a year. First off, I made a website. Yes, nice one Jamal (shameless shouted out to my friend Alexis and her company, H.K Productions, who put this beautiful site together.) Howwwwweeevveerrr, my uhh… follow through with managing the website was pretty lack luster.

Ok. I updated this site 1 time the entire year *facepalm* and for that I am sorry. To you, whomever has taken time to read this and to myself for not appreciating this outlet I established for myself and my work.

Alright, that’s enough beating myself up for now. Back to how great a year 2019 was.

Hmm, where was I. Oh this website. I said I’d have one, and so I got it done and am in love with it. 2019 is also the year that I became an official, dues-paying member of SAG-AFTRA. And ohhh how sweet it was to finally pay that initiation fee. Well sweet to be in the position, but those tears of joy were actually salty (I know that was corny, but I couldn’t help myself). Not only did I join SAG, but the reason I finally made the plunge was because I had booked my first role in a TV series. Yup. Me AKA “ADP Recruit #4” on Season 2 of MINDHUNTER on Netflix.  And then I followed that up with my first EVER role in a play, called NO MORE TOYS during the Hollywood Fringe Festival. I filmed my first lead role for a feature film, called SOUTH CENTRAL LOVE, which will be airing on BET sometime this year. Annnd I booked my SECOND ever play, The DOUBLE V which ran for 5 weeks at The Matrix Theater in Hollywood. I finally screened my first short film, PAST AND PRESENCE, and thanks to Eric Yang’s visual eye, I even filmed my first poetry videos, RISE and SHINE – which features my beautiful girlfriend.

I could go on and on about everything that happened, but I don’t wanna bore you more than I already have sooo… 2019

              THANK YOU

You taught me a lot, you grew me, forced me into a state of creation that seemed to flow from a never-ending well. You brought me great relationships, but reminded me of the importance of building up my current ones with others as well as with myself. I’m looking forward to everything I have planned to come and everything I don’t. I Just know it’s about to be a hell of a time, and I couldn’t ask to enter the year with a greater environment around me.

For those of you who made it this far into this post, thank you! I’m glad your along for the journey and I can’t wait to share more with you, in the meantime be sure to follow me on my socials to stay updated on all things I have coming up!
